NomadProof is run by husband and wife team, Eric and Maria. We are university professors who love to travel. We took the leap to start full-time nomading in July 2021. We sold/stored the vast majority of our stuff in the first half of 2021 and outfitted our Jeep Gladiator (a convertible truck!) for nomad life. Most of the time, we try to stay about a month at each stop, typically booking full house rentals on Airbnb or Vrbo. This gives us ample time to experience each locale without getting too stressed by traveling logistics. This website is an opportunity for us to share tips and tricks and best practices with others who want to move about from place to place. We differ from most other nomads in that we are typically renting month-long home stays on travel websites (instead of living out of an RV) and we mostly travel around the United States by car (instead of country-hopping abroad).

NomadProof gives travel-tested information (proof!) to fellow nomads. It gives tips to hosts on how to nomad-proof your rental for hosting digital nomads. It provides opportunities to work with us or meet us on the road. We’re living proof that this lifestyle is achievable, manageable, and fulfilling. We hope you enjoy our site!

Maria grew up in south-central Indiana and will be the first to tell you there’s more than corn in Indiana – there’s also soybeans. (Just kidding, southern Indiana is actually really beautiful.) She is a computer science and information systems professor and a “sky things” photographer, specializing in sunsets, sunrises, and interesting night sky happenings. (Check out her work here and on her personal Instagram account). She most enjoys space, hiking, and paddle boarding in her free time.

Eric is interested in using math (analytics and optimization) and automation (coding) to solve interesting problems and improve operations. He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio before traveling and living all over the country since leaving for college. He enjoys consulting with smallish companies that need and want help. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hiking, playing/watching sports, and sampling craft beer (here is our shared Untappd account).
