Our Video Tour:
Dates Stayed: Aug 23-28, 2021
Why Did We Pick It?
It overlooks the beautiful Kanawha River and surrounding mountains in WV, just 40 minutes from New River Gorge National Park, where we planned to spend time. It also had two places we could work from (kitchen table and a little desk in a bedroom) since we were here while we started the semester. 3 bed/1 bath.
Why Would We Recommend It?
The gorgeous views off the big deck overlooking the river drew us in immediately. The house itself was also very comfortable and included several nice touches like particularly nice towels and a built-out coffee station. It was very quiet even with several trains nearby.
While we didn’t get any spectacular sunrise/sunsets here, we enjoyed watching the fog roll through the valley. It is not too far from New River Gorge activities (about 40-45 minutes) and the drive there is scenic.
Note that we do not make walk through videos for locations that we would not recommend. We always get permission from the host before posting the video, and most hosts appreciate the marketing.
Anything to know before you book?
Street parking (uncovered). Friendly neighbors on the street. Not much directly nearby in terms of restaurants/stores/activities, but there are some within a 15 minute drive. We did have a few instances of the wifi dropping out (a middle-of-nowhere-WV problem), but when it was working, it was plenty fast.
