Because I’m a photographer in love with the sky, I make a concerted effort to find interesting and beautiful sunrise and sunset spots wherever we go. I’d like to share my spots with you so you can also enjoy these locations to the fullest.

Check out the map below of where I took most of my photos when we were in South Haven in July 2021.

What’s unique about photographing South Haven?
* The town is directly on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, which makes for incredible sunsets with the sun sinking into the lake
* The sun comes up over the river that runs through town, so you also have a nice sunrise opportunity
* The lighthouse, which you can walk all the way out to, has a unique catwalk
* The north pier lighthouse is also accessible and gives for a better view of the South Haven lighthouse, with fewer people walking past
* There are overlooks and dunes along the road and beach in town open to the public
* Downtown is very walkable, and the whole town is easy and quick to drive around if you want to stop at multiple places in one evening/morning

If you know of more beautiful photography spots, please share them below. I gravitate toward spots where I can get good light and color in those golden and blue hours, but anywhere you think I missed is valid to share.
